Snowboarding Jumps

Want to know how to snowboard jump? Then you’ve come to the right place! Here is a guide to making snowboarding jumps. However, before you just go out and try snowboarding jumps, make sure that you are already familiar with the basics of snowboarding.

If you are just a beginner, then you can’t go directly to snowboarding jumps. You have to practice doing boarding, switching edges, gliding, and moving up the slope. At the same time, you should try out the snowboard exercises of side slipping, traversing, falling leaf, garlands, and linking turns. If you have done all those, you still need to know one thing. That is to do an Ollie! If you’ve done skateboarding before, then chances are you know how to do one. An on ollie is basically jumping up with your snowboard while you bend your knees and spring up. Now if you know how to do that, then go ahead and try doing snowboard jumps.

Make sure when you do ollies, your snowboard’s nose is higher than the back or the tail of your board. If it’s not, then you should practice this first to be able to snowboard jump. Now that you’ve done it, do it several times. Practice and be familiar with it. Try doing an ollie while you are riding down the hill or mountain. Then, you are ready to do snowboarding jumps.
When you do snowboarding jump make sure that you land on a hill and not on a flat surface because flat grounds can cause a bad impact to your ankles. Find a jump that you are comfortable with. Either your left foot, right foot, or both feet will do. Just make sure that you don’t feel awkward when doing your snowboard jumping.

Now, bend or crouch a little before you make your first snowboard jump. Once you jump, and you are at the top of your jump, do an ollie. This will help you get a boost. After your ollie, check out where you are going to land right away. Concentrate and focus on landing with both feet. Make sure that when you land, your board stays flat on the surface and not sideways or edges landing first. When you land after snowboarder jumping, make sure to bend your knees so you don’t feel the impact that much. This will again be helpful for your ankles.

This is just the beginning. Try this several times and next thing you know, you’ll be doing a huge snowboard jump already!
