Freestyle Skiing
Freestyle skiing is one of the most popular skiing competitions today. Freestyle skiing is a part of extreme skiing where freestyle skiers show their best tricks by doing acrobatic stunts while in the air. Freestyle skiing doesn’t only require skills but the drive to push for tricks that are harder to copy and more dangerous to do.
In the history of freestyle skiing, there is no particular person to be pointed out if we want to know who invented freestyle skiing. The Norwegians skiers started this trend by doing acrobatics while on downhill and cross country training. Even though these sports only gained worldwide attention two decades ago, it was only during the 1930s that the seeds of freestyle ski were being sowed by the Norwegians.
Later, the sport was shown as an exhibition to the US for the first time with the help of Stein Eriksen who developed aerial skiing. Eriksen is an Olympic medalist during the 1950s. The sport was officially added to the list of sports by the International Ski Federation in 1979. It was also during those times that proper guidelines were created to control the sport and prevent serious accidents as much as possible.
Currently, the 2007 national freestyle skiing and 2007 junior freestyle skiing athletes feature two types of games. The first was the traditional downhill and aerial jumps and the other types of competition concerned with acrobatics done in the halfpipes and big air jumps for the best trick competition. The latter type of sport is gaining in popularity since it concerns a freestyle skiing trick that should be properly executed. These can’t just be called a simple freestyle ski jumping because once they are in the air, the skiers try to do tricks and land on the snow perfectly without any bumps.
You can also enjoy freestyle skiing even though it’s not for the purpose of competitive skiing. However, before you hit the halfpipe, you need to have the proper freestyle skiing clothing for protection and comfort. There are websites and ski shops that sell free freestyle skiing videos where you can get good freestyle skiing tips especially the basics in preparation, executing the tricks and proper landing. There are also free freestyle skiing videos you can watch online. These videos feature the famous skiers as they fly in the air and create awesome tricks.
Supporters are showing the love for the sport. Freestyle skiing wallpapers and freestyle skiing pictures are everywhere and are free to download. Clips of the best tricks made by any athlete can be shown online. Freestyle Skiing is a sport that is here to stay almost forever.
